St John the Baptist,
Leytonstone High Road (corner with Church Lane),
Leytonstone has good road access and the church has limited free parking, even if the one-way system may prove interesting.
From the M25 - exit at junction 27 and take the M11 south to its end and then the A406 (North Circular) south for one junction. Turn right from the Redbridge Roundabout onto the A12. At the second junction (Green Man Roundabout) take the first exit and go straight on at the traffic lights immediately afterwards.
From the A406 (North Circular) - At the Redbridge Roundabout take the A12 southbound. At the second junction (Green Man Roundabout) take the first exit and go straight on at the traffic lights immediately afterwards.
From the Blackwall Tunnel - On leaving the tunnel keep going straight on. This road becomes the A12, at the Green Man Roundabout take the last exit and go straight on at the traffic lights immediately afterwards.
You are now in Leytonstone, with only the one-way system to negotiate. Keep going straight on, when you pass McDonalds you will have to turn right. You then reach a crossroads for Tescos, turn left (away from Tescos). When you pass the bus stop complex turn left up Church Lane. St. John's is at the end on the left, you will need to wait for the traffic lights before entering the churchyard.
Underground - Central Line
Leytonstone is on the eastern end of the Central Line and is situated before the line divides (i.e. from Central London you can take any east bound Central Line train). The station exit is in a subway, turn left and, on emerging from the subway, turn left again. As you approach the bus stop you should be able to see the church yard on your right (up Church Lane).
The Barking to Gospel Oak stretch of the London Overground line stops at Leytonstone High Road. Following the recent improvements there is now a regular, reliable service on the Overground. Click here for a timetable.
On leaving the station turn left onto Leytonstone High Road, St. John's is about half a mile down the road.
There are numerous bus routes with stops near the church. Click here for a map.
